Selecting the Perfect Wedding Band

After purchasing an engagement ring, popping the question, and getting some wedding planning done, the next step is wedding bands! There are so many different metals, brands, and opinions that can go into the process. At The Jewelry Center, we want to make things easy while still going over all of the options. We strive to make sure both of you are happy with the choices you make for your wedding bands!

Get in Touch

The first step in picking out a wedding band is to get in contact with us a few months before the big day (at the latest!). The easiest way to relieve stress is to select your wedding band with enough time to allow for any potential customizations, special orders, and to make sure you both are happy with your decision without being in a pinch to decide! Give us a call, fill out our contact form, or simply stop in to one of our three locations to speak with a Jewelry Specialist when you are ready!

Have a Budget

Next, have a budget in mind. This will really help your Jewelry Specialist show you options that are most definitely within your price range. Rings can get up into the thousands when you begin discussing rare metals or the addition of a stone such as diamonds or rubies. That being said, our wedding bands start out at around $100, so whatever your budget, there is most certainly the perfect wedding band within your budget and we want to help you find it!

Decide on a Metal

Knowing your budget, it may help to decide the type of metal you are looking to have your ring be made of. At The Jewelry Center we have the common choices: white gold, yellow gold, rose gold, and titanium. We also carry tungsten, cobalt chrome, carbon fiber, damascus steel, and zirconium. We even have rings that include meteorite or hardwood. Most individuals plan to wear their wedding band every day, which is why it is also important to think about your personality and your lifestyle. If you have a job that requires heavy lifting or machinery and you would still like to wear your ring at wrok, it would be best to go with a ring that can sustain those conditions. If you want a ring that is more bold to go with your personality, ask your Jewelry Specialist to show you some of our more unique metals, such as zirconium which is a durable, lightweight, and more modern metal with its naturally black color.

Know Your Style

After deciding what material, it’s time to start looking into the style of the ring. From engravings, two-tone, gemstones, brushed finish, patterned surfaces, and more, there is so much to think about when considering a wedding band. Once you know your budget and the type of metal you are looking for, our Jewelry Specialists will be able to show you what options are available. If you’re looking for something truly unique, ask about inlays! If you have an idea that you would like to be custom-made, just ask! We would love to help make a wedding band that is unique and fitting to your personality and lifestyle!

Match or Contrast?

It’s very common for the bride and groom to have differing opinions and preferences when it comes to the wedding band. Maybe the groom wants something simple, but the bride wants his wedding band to match her rings. The great news is that there are so many options at The Jewelry Center, we know will will be able to meet somewhere in the middle! It is common for both his and her rings to match, but it is also okay to have contrasting rings. The style and/or metal can instead match your unique personalities (probably the reason the two of you were meant for eachother to begin with!). It’s best to listen to what you and your partner like, consider the options, and it’s always possible to add something to tie the rings together. This could be a matching custom engraving or creating a two-tone look with his band by adding a stripe of the engagement ring metal to the wedding band.

Engraving or Anniversary Planning?

WIth anniversaries, you can always plan to bring the ring in for a custom engraving or add diamonds to the band. If you would like to go simple now with the hopes of customizing it in the future, make sure to let your Jewelry Specialist know this as well!

Sizing Your Ring

Sizing of the ring is the next step. Even if you know your ring size, we will probably just double check to be sure you’re going to be happy with the ring you are purchasing. If you need to change sizes in the future, we provide that service along with cleaning and repair!

Purchasing Your Bands

Next is purchasing the ring. We suggest giving purchasing a couple months before the big day. This prevents added stress during the last few weeks before the wedding and will help us to be sure you are getting exactly what you wanted. The Jewelry Center believes fine jewelry should be available to everyone. This is why we offer in-house financing options as well.

We want this process to be enjoyable for you both! With a budget in mind and some thoughts on what you may be interested in, we will be able to show you a variety of options to choose from. Through our discussions we will also be able to help you narrow down the options. You will be able to choose a wedding band that is not only a symbol of your love for one another, but also one that will match his personality and lifestyle in the many happy years to come.
